Official statistics show that the number of basic mineral manufacturing factories in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) grew from 40 in 1998, which constituted 2.4 percent of the total existing industrial enterprises in the country to 43 factories in 1999, which is equivalent to 2.3 percent of the total existing industrial factories in the country.
