The Egyptian Petroleum Public Authority has announced that 34 new petroleum and gas discoveries have been explored in the fiscal year 2000/2001, as compared with 31 discoveries in the previous fiscal year.
According to Al-Gomhuria, the authority also disclosed that the 2000/2001 discoveries included 18 crude oil fields and 16 natural gas fields. The production capacity of these discoveries is estimated at 47,000 barrels of petroleum, 331 million cubic feet of natural gas and 7,513 barrels of condensers per day.
The reserves of these discoveries are assessed at 144 million barrels of crude petroleum and condensers and 9.2 trillion cubic feet of gas. — (Mena Report)
