ALBAWABA- A factory-sealed copy of Apple's first-generation iPhone was sold in an auction for $190,373, around 380 times the original device's price in its 2007 release.
16 years ago, Apple's first-generation iPhones were priced at $499 for the 4GB variant and $599 for the 8GB model.
In an article by ABC News and according to LCG Auctions, Due to it being 20 times rarer than its 8GB relative, the 4GB model was sold in the auction instead.
This is solely because the 4GB variant was discontinued two months after its launch after customers preferred the larger size in memory making it the rarest choice for collectors and auction sites.
According to Engadget, Three iPhones were sold at an auction in the past year including the $190,000 iPhone. Two 8GB variants were sold at an auction with one for $63,356 in February and $39,340 in October 2022.
Apple has built quite a reputation for itself with a loyal fanbase buying its products every year and is currently sitting on a market value of $3.05 trillion.
