The governor of Alexandria, Abdullsalam Mahjub, recently allocated a 60-fadan area along the Alexandria-Matruh coastal road for the establishment of a modern sewerage recycling and treatment station, reported Al-Ahram.
Funds totaling 770 million Egyptian pounds ($180.9 million) were transferred to enable the facility’s construction, set to begin October 2001. The project is designed to serve 1.2 million inhabitants in western Alexandria. — (Mena Report)
