BenQ underscores commitment to region’s education sector at GESS 2011
BenQ, an internationally-renowned provider of digital lifestyle solutions, underscored its commitment to the Middle East’s education sector at the Gulf Educational Suppliers and Solutions (GESS) Exhibition 2011 which took place recently.
GESS 2011, held at the Airport Expo Centre, is the only exhibition and conference in the region focused on the entire spectrum of the education sector. With the support of the UAE Ministry of Education, the event offers GCC educational specialists an opportunity to experience the latest regional and international Information Communications Technology (ICT) and Special Educational Needs (SEN) solutions.
Manish Bakshi, General Manager of BenQ for the Middle East and Africa, said; “Building on our recent success at GETEX 2011, BenQ is delighted to have showcased our educational technology at GESS 2011. The conference provided an effective platform for the education sector to learn about our innovative new projector technology and see first hand the benefits it can bring to the classroom.”
The education sector continues to experience high-growth across the Gulf region with GCC Governments significantly increasing public funds for education and training in the last few years. According to its 2010- 2020 strategy, the UAE Ministry of Education is aiming to achieve a score of 10/10 in various educational infrastructure projects in ICT and facilities development, with 22.5% of the UAE’s budget allocated to education.
As the Gulf states continue to see population growth across the board, reports suggest that 6,200 additional schools would be required to meet demand by 2020.
Harold Fernandes, General Manager, Abcom Solutions, sole distributor of BenQ’s projector range in the Middle East, said, “As the education sector in the region continues to experience sustained growth, customers are on the lookout for cost-effective, innovative digital solutions. As the leading projector brand in the Asia Pacific education market, we believe BenQ are well-positioned to offer best-in-class, projector technology to the region’s education specialists.”
BenQ carried out live demonstrations of the MP780ST and MX880UST projectors during the show, both projectors have short throw capabilities, which eliminate the problems of shadows on the screen and users being blinded by the projector light. BenQ also showcased the MP780ST’s innovative PointDraw technology which enables students to actively participate in the classroom using an interactive pen that allows them to point and draw on any projected surface.
BenQ is the global number one DLP Projector brand and a leader in the region’s education segment as the top projector brand in the Asia Pacific education market, with a 17.7% market share.
The BenQ Group and its companies operate in over 30 countries globally, with a workforce of over 120,000.
