Al-Futtaim Motors forms Dealer Council to support dealer network

Al-Futtaim Motors - Parts division today announced the formation of a Dealer Council as part of the company's efforts to safeguard the interest of its 125-strong authorised dealer network in the UAE as also enhance the company's focus on being truly customer centric.
The Dealer Council will help combat parallel imports of genuine Toyota and Lexus parts in the UAE, work with government institutions to identify traders of counterfeit goods, as also serve as formal platform for all Al-Futtaim Motors dealers to share insights to further improving customer service, sales and marketing.
Len Hunt, President - Al-Futtaim Automotive urged the council and its members to remain vigilant in the face of any grey market penetration and also report to the concerned authorities any behaviour which may put the lives of vehicle owners in risk.
"We believe strong dealer relationships are integral to root out the menace of parallel imports. The success of our brand depends on these life-long relationships. The formation of Al-Futtaim Motors Dealer Council is one of several steps we are taking to foster exchange of ideas on how best to grow the business for dealers and increase our market share in the UAE," Mr. Hunt said. "Our dealers are an integral part of Al-Futtaim's success and the Dealer Council is a great way for us to better understand the challenges and opportunities they face."
The eight-member Dealer Council was elected through a voting process and will meet every quarter. M. Ashraf Ibrahim of Deluxe Auto Spare Parts was elected as the Chairperson and John Mathai of Divya Auto Parts was elected as Vice Chairperson.
The primary objectives of the Dealer Council will include protecting distributor image and interests, protecting dealer sales and distribution rights, arrange campaigns and exhibitions in coordination with government agencies to improve customer awareness on use of genuine parts, promoting expansion of network in untapped areas and strengthening dealer relations through regular follow-up visits and quarterly meetings.
Kevin Jones, Senior General Manager, Aftersales Al-Futtaim Motors, said, "This is indeed a historic moment not only for Al-Futtaim but also for our loyal parts dealers who believe in integrity and fair business practices. The council will spearhead Al-Futtaim Motors efforts to identify illegal stockists and stop counterfeit parts entering the market and thereby not only to protect customers but also the reputation of the UAE."
The first meeting's agenda included a detailed SWOT analysis of the market at the present times by the Dealer Council and a presentation by Sajjad Pasha, National Sales & Marketing Manager, Al-Futtaim Motors, who reviewed last year's performance as also discussed the company's future actions.
"Although there is significant headway in that the grey or counterfeit market is now running scared of doing businesses, it will be some time before this malaise is completely eradicated and the lives of motorists are in safe hands," Mr. Pasha said.
