Aluminium Dubai 2011, the second edition of the Middle East’s leading aluminium trade show, was inaugurated today, Monday, May 9, by His Excellency Ahmad Al Tayer, Governor of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC). Event organiser Reed Exhibitions has revealed that more than 150 exhibitors are taking part in this edition of the event, which is also expected to draw more than 3,000 trade visitors from over 50 countries. Aluminium Dubai 2011 runs until May 11 at Sheikh Saeed Halls 2 and 3 of DICEC.

Aluminium Dubai serves as a regional platform that brings together international industry leaders including aluminium producers, processors and manufacturers of raw materials and end products with aluminium components as well as suppliers of technologies and accessories for aluminium production, processing and refinement.

“Following the major success of the previous edition of Aluminium Dubai, this year again the response from regional and international exhibitors has been truly overwhelming. Aluminium industry players recognise the significance of this event in highlighting emerging market opportunities and new technological advancements in the sector, especially given that aluminum consumption by the region’s construction industry is steadily growing,” said Tarek Ali, Show Manager, ALUMINIUM Dubai, Reed Exhibitions.

The GCC's building and construction industry currently consumes up to 400,000 tonnes of aluminium annually, making it one of the biggest markets for aluminium products in the region. In particular, construction projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), the UAE and Qatar have been key growth markets that are driving the surge in demand for aluminium.

Modar Al Mekdad, General Manager of Gulf Extrusions, one of the exhibitors at the event, said, “We had participated in the inaugural edition of Aluminium Dubai as well and we have found this event to be an excellent platform to meet industry peers and get deeper insights about emerging market dynamics. This year we will be demonstrating our broad capabilities, technological superiority and wide product portfolio to end users and trade visitors at the event.”

In addition to attracting companies directly involved with the production of aluminium and aluminium products, Aluminium Dubai 2011 has also gathered decision makers from companies operating in the GCC and MENA region that are involved in industries like manufacturing and processing, building and construction, packaging, hardware, automotive and transport, power transmission, factory and machinery production and metal & commodity markets.
