Royal Yachts: While the Arab subjects Protest, the Masters Sail into the High Seas

From the  Arab Gulf kingdoms,  to the more troubled Mid Eastern hot spots of Egypt and Iraq, leaders and patrons have their serene sea decks  to keep them distracted from the noise of the rabble on stormy  land!

These prize toys for the uber-wealthy or floating cities as they’ve been tagged, are some of the largest and most luxurious yachts, racking up prestigious Superyacht Awards.

Some of the world’s richest billionaires keep floating palaces and pleasure decks, and some of these happen to be members of the royal or stately echelons of Arabia.

Though secondhand is not the done thing, for some it adds allure to sell yachts among other yacht-worthy names as when Saudi former richest-man-in-the-world Khashoggi sold to US millionaire magnate Donald Trump.

Issham Al Baher - Once a royal Saudi yacht, reputedly Greek now. Formerly in King of SA ownership, handed down the line of relatives. 50 million Euros.

Al Sa’id - Owned by Sultan Qaboos bin Sa’id Al Said of Oman. This flies the Oman flag and lives in Muscat its home port. This state boat can entertain dignitaries or State guests in a grand concert hall. 550 million Euros.

Kingdom 5KR - this glamorous sea vessel has changed filthy rich hands from former richest, KSA Arms dealer Khashoggi, through to celeb paws of Donald Trump, who in turn pawned her over to HRH Prince Al Waleed bin Talal. 50 million Euros.

Al Salamah - Another in the Saudi Arabian yacht fleet, in the care of Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, son of the late Fahd, and royally owned. 200 million Euros.

Prince Abdulaziz - King Abdullah inherited this from the late King Fahd, a Royal Yacht with Jeddah as its base. It boasts a hospital a mosque and cinema. 50 million Euros.

Sarafsa - Saudi Royal family owned - probably Prince Fahd bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz al Saud, named after his daughter. 110 million Euros.

Katara - Flies the Qatar state flag. Named after a new development in Qatar so synonymous with the rise in state prosperity and progress. Owned purportedly by ruler HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani. 350 million Euros according to insurance sources.

Dubai - Royal Dubai yacht that transferred eminent hands to Dubai's Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum via Prince of Brunei. 270 million Euros.

Al Mirqab - Belongs to Qatar’s prime minister Hamad bin Jassin bin Jaber Al Thani and features a stunning centerpiece grand staircase climbing 4 decks. 200 million Euros.

Basrah Breeze - Now consortium owned, initially intended for Saddam Hussein. It's been seized and sold by the French for 35 million USD.

Loaloat Al Behar - Built as the Royal Yacht of Oman, and now gifted to Oman’s ministry of Tourism following the the Sultan being delivered his new yacht - Al Said. 60 million Euros.
