Glion Hospitality Management School Alumni Dinner at W Doha

W Doha, the award-winning iconic lifestyle luxury hotel, hosted the Glion Hospitality Management School Alumni Dinner at Spice Market this week. Glion has five Alumni working at the W Doha hotel, with around 25 other Alumni members based in Qatar working for luxury hotels or other successful hospitality companies. A Glion school member joined the dinner at which all W Doha Alumni were also present – Edgar Vaudeville, etc.

Glion Institute of Higher Education, based in Bulle near Montreux, Switzerland, is among the top three university-level
hospitality management schools in the world, providing management studies in hospitality, tourism and travel to a total student population of over 1,600.

Underlying the importance of travel and tourism to the world economy, the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) estimates that between now and the year 2017, the hotel and tourism industry will generate 262 million jobs - nearly one out of every 10 jobs in the world.

Recently released UNWTO (UN World Tourism Organisation) statistics also show the strength of the sector. In 2010, international tourism generated US$ 919 billion (€ 693 billion) in export earnings, up from US$ 851 billion (610 billion euros) in 2009.  International  tourism receipts increased by 5% during 2010 with an almost 7% growth in arrivals.

Edgar Vaudeville, PR & Events Manager, W Doha, commented:  “ At the Glion Alumni dinner, we will be discussing how we can promote Qatar and GCC to the best of Glion’s young graduates. Being part of this amazing hotel management school has been a great asset in my career. This is why we are supporting the school in finding good positions for young talented students to get interesting jobs in Qatar and the Middle East.”
