Toyota Dream Car Contest invites children to draw the Car of the Future

Three age groups of the Kingdom’s younger generation have the chance to express their artistic talent and design their own vehicle of the future in the recently launched Toyota Dream Car Art Contest. The three categories are: children under 10 years; 10-12 years; and 13-15 years. There are prizes for 1st- 5th place in each age group, making a total of 15 prizes.
The Kingdom is one of the 64 countries to participate in the fifth edition of the competition and winners of the Saudi National Contest, which is organized by Abdul Latif Jameel Co. Ltd (ALJ), sole agent of Toyota in Saudi Arabia, will be entitled to participate in the World Contest. If selected they will have the chance to win a trip to Japan accompanied by their parents.
“This contest is part of our commitment to being a socially responsible member of the community and in this case the objective is to encourage children develop their artistic talents and experience the everyday joy of life that Toyota has taken as its new theme,” said Faisal Mirza, GM – Toyota Marketing Communications. “The art competition is an opportunity for children - through drawing pictures of their dream cars under the theme "Your Dream - The Car of the Future"- to develop their interest in cars and further understand the joy and importance of having a dream.”
Adding a note of encouragement Faisal Mirza, GM – Toyota Marketing Communications said: “The car you draw may be the one that people in the future will drive, so let your imagination ride far, submit your entry and let your dreams take off with Toyota.”
To enter, children are required to draw their dream car of the future on A3-size paper and submit the drawing to the nearest Toyota showroom in the Kingdom. The contest is now open and the last date for receiving entries is January 31, 2011.
Held since 2004, the territorial scope of this year’s contest has been expanded from Asia to include North, Central, and South America; Europe; Africa; Oceania and the Middle East. Winning entries in each National Contest will be submitted to the World Contest to be held in Japan in May 2011, with bronze, silver, and gold prize winners, as well as other works of distinction, being selected.
In addition, Akira Toriyama, the world-renowned creator of the Dragon Ball anime series, and Toyota Motors Corporation President Akio Toyoda will select entries as winners of the Akira Toriyama Prize and President Toyoda Prize from among the bronze, silver, and gold prize-winning entries. Prizewinners will be invited to attend an award ceremony to be held in August 2011 at TMC Head Office in Toyota City, Nagoya Prefecture, Japan.
