The World Cup third place match is almost one of no importance, but with Brazil being the host nation it will certainly be one with a lot of national pride attached to it after they were humiliated by Germany in the semi-finals.

Brazil capitulated to a catastrophic defensive meltdown that saw Germany five goals up in the first 28 minutes of their match and were only able to pull one back to the final German total of seven in 90 minutes.

The return of captain Thiago Silva in defense will certainly be a rallying cry for the Brazilians but the loss of Neymar looks to have been truly too great.

Holland themselves were in it till the end but Argentina proved to have what it took to outlast them in penalties and see Clockwork Orange denied a second chance to take the World title since they lost to Spain in 2010.

Ron Vlaar played a near perfect game against the Argentines, but he could be ruled out for the match with a knock and with the World Cup trophy no longer on the line he may not want to risk injury ahead of his return to Aston Villa and their preparations for the coming English Premier League campaign.

Brazil Starting XI: Cesar: Maicon, Silva, Luiz, Marcelo; Fernandinho, Gustavo; Hulk, Oscar, Bernard; Fred.

Netherlands Starting XI: Vorm: Vrij, Veltman, Blind; Janmaat, Wijnaldum, Clasie, Kuyt; Sneijder; Persie, Robben.
