As final preparations are made, the stage is getting set for The Bahrain Women’s Day Sportsfest 2017. This addition to the women’s sporting calendar in Bahrain will be held on Friday at Um Al Hassam Sports Complex.
The event is being organized by ‘Out of the Box’ under the patronage of Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, board member of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and chairwoman of Women’s Sport Committee, and with the full support of BOC.
On court, action will see eight women’s futsal teams battling it out on the five-a-side court and more than twenty women’s basketball teams looking to shoot the hoops to 3-on-3 glory; off court there will be a number of activities for all the family – art and craft displays, musical,fun for the kids and food stalls.
The futsal tournament gets underway at 9.30 am with the 3-on-3 basketball competition tipping offat 2.30pm. The awards ceremony for both competitions begins at 7pm.
General coordinator Mamoon Al Khateeb said the Bahrain Olympic Committee and ‘Out of the Box’ have completed all arrangements prior to the event kick off, and thanked the committee for supporting the festival.
