Kariman Abuljadayel, 22 years old, is the first Saudi woman to compete in the Olympics 100 metres. Following Sarah Attar‘s footsteps, the first Saudi woman ever to compete in the Olympics in 2012 after the Kingdom lifted the ban on women competing in the Olympics, Abuljadayel came in seventh in her preliminary heat with a time of in 14.61 seconds.
Even if she doesn’t win any medals, we think the support she’s getting from her fans back home (and from other parts of the world) does a great deal of compensation.
