Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser al-Khelaifi is eager to convince Kylian Mbappe to remain at the club beyond the current season.
The France international is off contract in June amid reports linking him with Real Madrid and Liverpool.
He is having another impressive season at the Parc des Princes, and has managed to net 25 goals in 24 matches.
Al-Khelaifi addressed rumors regarding the player's future, insisting that the Frenchman would be better off if he were to stay at the club.
The PSG president told RMC: "Of course I want Kylian to stay, that's for sure. He is the best in the world and the best club for him is PSG. He is at the center of everything.
"He is a great man, a great player, but also a great person. As he said after the European Cup, he has an agreement with me. I don't want to talk about money and say how much the deal is worth.
"We have a 'gentleman's agreement', our agreement is not about money. It's between a player and the club president, the sporting director and the coach: it's more than a signed agreement."
The Qatari added: "I ask everyone to leave Kylian alone. Leave us alone."
