Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Tuesday visited HRH Prince Ali Ibn Al Hussein after he returned home from Zurich, Switzerland, where he ran in the election for the presidency of the world soccer governing body, FIFA.

During a meeting at Beit Al Baraka Palace, the prince and Abbas underlined the strong bonds between the Jordanian and Palestinian people and their leaderships' keenness to cement this relationship to maintain their common and brotherly interests.

Prince Ali told Petra that Jordanian-Palestinian relations have been strong, telling Abbas that "we are brothers, and you have been a backer for us, and we are and will remain a backer for you in everything." Abbas said the meeting with the prince was "brotherly," adding that the relationship between Jordan and Palestine will remain forever and that nothing would sour these bonds "regardless of any behaviour".

"We are brothers and will remain so. We will never forget that Jordan, starting with HM the King, the government and people, have been standing by the side of the Palestinian people, and that this relationship will continue," added the Palestinian leader.
