Brazil legend Pele was released from hospital on Saturday after undergoing surgery, medical officials in Sao Paulo confirmed.
The 74-year-old's enlarged prostate - which was discovered to have no cancerous tumours - was operated upon this week to lessen complications linked with the abnormality.
Pele left Albert Einstein Hospital to minimal fanfare with his girlfriend on Saturday at 18:30 local time, declining to give any interviews.
It was the second time in the past several months that Pele had been forced to attend the Brazilian hospital after being treated for kidney problems in November and December last year over the space of two weeks.
Pele, considered by many to be one of the best players of all-time, scored 77 times in 91 caps for Brazil and won a record three World Cups during his playing career.
He has occupied his time since retirement in 1977 in a variety of ways including working as a UN ambassador, scouting for a Premier League club and representing New York Cosmos as their honorary president.
