Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has admitted his players suffered first night nerves during their nerve-jangling 3-2 win over Premier league new boys Southampton on Sunday.
Mancini also urged his players to be more clinical while attacking, and doesn't want them to repeat their performance against Southampton.
The English champions were almost left red-faced as newly promoted Saints stormed back to lead 2-1 with 20 minutes remaining, but late goals from Edin Dzeko and Samir Nasri ensured victory.
This was a game reminiscent to the famous title-winning day when they beat QPR at the death 14 weeks ago.
"I hope this is the last day like this. I remember the other day very well but it was important we won this game," The Sun quoted Mancini, as saying.
"I think it happened today because it's the first game. We have worked together for only two weeks and maybe we need to improve our situation now. The first game is always difficult," he added.
:It is always difficult and we also had 15 players away with the national teams during the week, so we only had the players on Saturday. Our defenders didn't play well but it is not always their fault. When a team like us has 10 chances to score, you should close out the game," he said. (ANI)
