Manchester United is reportedly set to offer only 25 million pounds for striker Wayne Rooney, which is half of the figure expected from the English star a year ago.
Rooney, who was sensationally axed from United's Champions League starting line-up against Real Madrid, has just over two years left on his current contract and United is ready to accept a reduced fee for the striker, the Sun reports.
The situation between Rooney, who had tried to leave United more than two years ago claiming that the club lacked ambition, and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was reportedly tense after Rooney's previous exit attempts and came to a head after Rooney was dropped from the match against Madrid.
Rooney, who has scored 140 goals in 271 games for United, is no longer the main striking option at the club with the arrival of Robin van Persie as Ferguson believes that Danny Welbeck could be a better partner for the Dutchman, the report added. (ANI)
