The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is working to impose a penalty on Mahmoud Mardi, a player of the national football team, for raising a slogan that was considered political during a match in the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar.
Mahmoud Mardi, the star of “Al-Nashama”, participated in the first match against Malaysia and shone by scoring two goals. He celebrated after the first goal by revealing an inner shirt that read “It is the cause of the honorable”.
AFC is planning to impose the penalty on Mardi for showing a “personal message with political content” and for “violating the AFC’s instructions”.
