Fatma al Nabhani, Oman's top tennis player, collected her fifth ITF trophy of the year on Saturday when she took the singles crown at the US$10,000 ITF Pro Circuit Phoenix Live tournament in Hyderabad, India on Saturday.
In the final played at the Leonia Holistic Destination courts, top seed Fatma dropped just four games in a 6-3, 6-1 win against Indian girl Rishika Sunkara.
In the semifinals, Fatma defeated Indian player Riya Bhatia 6-4, 6-3, after the Omani favourite overcame a tough challenge from another Indian girl Chilumula Nidhi for 7-6, 6-0 victory in their last-eight contest.
The latest title-winning performance helped Fatma garner enough ranking points in 2015, with the Omani player slated to break into the top 400 when the ITF world rankings are updated in the coming days, as reported by Muscat Daily on Saturday. Currently placed at No 472 in singles, Fatma's position is expected to rise to No 396.
