World number five Ramy Ashour has qualified directly for the Squash World Championship final after being given a walkover semi-final win over reigning champion Gregory Gaultier following the latter's injury.

Gaultier was to take on three-time champion Ashour for a place in the competition's final on Thursday if not for an ankle injury that the Frenchman sustained following his quarter-final victory over Tarek Moemen.

This means that the 2016 World Championship, taking place at Cairo's Wadi Degla, is now certain to be won by an Egyptian as Ashour now awaits the winner from the other all-Egyptian semi-final between World No.1 Mohamed ElShorbagy and Karim Abdel-Gawad.
