Court of Arbitration for Sport to hear Palestine Football Association's appeal against FIFA and its handling of complaint against Israel.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will hear the Palestine Football Association's (PFA) appeal against FIFA and its handling of its complaint against the Israeli Football federation, The Associated Press reported Monday.
According to the report, the CAS panel will hear the appeal on November 27. A verdict is expected weeks later.
The PFA, which is headed by Jibril Rajoub, along with groups such as Human Rights Watch, has long attempted to force FIFA to ban six Israeli teams in the West bank (Judea and Samaria), since their presence there is in breach of FIFA statutes, which forbids another member association playing on another territory without permission.
Recently, however, FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced his organization would not intervene in the issue and that it considers the matter closed.
The PFA's appeal to CAS followed Infantino steering the football body's annual congress in May to delay debate on a FIFA-appointed task force's report. It could have stopped the six clubs from playing in the Israeli league.
