Barcelona are reportedly interested in Manchester City and Argentina striker Julian Alvarez.

Barca have begun the search for a long-term alternative to Robert Lewandowski, given he is in his mid-30s.

Sport revealed that Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez is a huge admirer of the Argentine star.

The 23-year-old has managed to score six goals and provided five assists in 13 matches for City this term despite not being a regular starter.

He is able to play in several positions up front making him an ideal option for the Catalan giants.

Lewandowski has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in January or next summer.
