Tottenham star Gareth Bale will not pick and choose his games for Wales, team-mate Joe Ledley insists.

Bale did not train with the rest of Chris Coleman's squad on Monday due to concerns about an ankle problem, but he is expected to be fit to face Scotland on Friday.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a blistering season so far, notching 25 goals in 42 appearances for club and country and once again attracting the attention of Europe's biggest clubs.

As his club career takes off there are fears that Bale, like Manchester United star Ryan Giggs before him, may miss friendly matches for Wales in order to keep himself fresh for club football.

But Ledley believes this is unlikely. "I can’t see him picking and choosing his games," he told reporters. "He likes meeting up, being with the lads, the training and the games."

Bale scored two goals the last time Wales and Scotland met in October, including a sensational last-minute winner, and Ledley believes the Spurs star will inspire fear every time he gets the ball.

"Scotland will be nervous about playing against him," he added. "Most defenders would be - because I think he’s good at everything."
