Arsenal is eyeing the possibility of bringing former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba back to the Emirates after the Ivory Coast forward was caught in a boardroom power struggle at his Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua.

The Gunners are desperate to find a proven scorer to replace Robin van Persie, and they have made enquiries with Shenhua to see if there is a way of bringing the striker back to London.

Drogba, believed to be on 200,000-pound-a-week salary, had previously been linked with a shock switch to Liverpool, the Sun reports.

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho, who took the hit man to Stamford Bridge in 2004, also kept an eye on Drogba during the summer transfer window. (ANI)
