SouqExtra! Al Ain kicks off 1st Mini Soccer Competition

SouqExtra! Al Ain staged the 1st SouqExtra! Mini Soccer Competition over the weekend, March 25-26 – an Al Ain-based tournament for local soccer enthusiasts.
The two-day tournament, organised by YalaSports, a leading integrated sports marketing and events-management company, proved highly popular, with 15 teams competing for the grand prize. The winning team Saif Al Emarat took home AED 5,000 in cash, sponsored by SouqExtra! Al Ain. The 1st and second runner ups also walked away with different prizes from Grand Optics and Cool Pool Café.
Commenting on the event, Saleh Abdullah Lootah, Managing Director of SouqExtra!, said: “The Mini Soccer Tournament was a great way to involve the local community in an activity that is popular across age-groups. SouqExtra! is a community-focused brand and this tournament is the second inclusive event on our 2011 Activity Calendar that has been successfully completed this year, following the Fun Day organised last month. We received a lot of positive feedback and this is a great way to kick off what we hope will be highly-anticipated annual event.”
“Staging such events serves a dual purpose. It offers local residents a reason to come together under a banner of friendly competition and it also raises SouqExtra!’s profile among Al Ain residents. Our community events always result in boosting footfall to our supercenter in Al Bateen and gives us an added incentive to invest in a busy calendar of local activities,” Lootah added.
Waleed Hamed, founder of the event organiser YalaSports added “Our aim is to provide maximum exposure and opportunities for individuals and organizations with a passion for sporting excellence. The Mini Soccer Tournament will help foster and encourage the growing trend among the residents of Al Ain to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle through participating in sports activities,” said Hamed.
