Mohammed Rifi ruffled feathers, finishing the X-Factor final on top

Published May 26th, 2013 - 11:08 GMT

Mohammed Rifi made Morocco look good Friday night after winning the crowning title on X Factor Arabia’s final episode of season two. It didn’t take long after the results were out for online debates to begin, which is just so typical of talent shows like the first season of Arab Idol.

Before Rifi reigned victorious, the last two episodes Thursday and Friday were also dedicated to Libyan Ibrahem Abdul-Athem, who like Rifi represented UAE singer Hussein Al Jassmi’s team, and the Jordanian Adham Al-nabulsi from Wael Kfoury’s team. In a surprising moment, Adham was first to be eliminated by audience votes, leaving the last two contestants battling for the title.

Here are all the moments you must know about from the X factor Arabia grand finale.

It was a man’s man’s world leading the Thursday night competition. Star team leaders Hussein Al Jassmi and Waelf Kfoury were the only judges left with contestants in the running. Carole Samaha and Elissa still at least provided the episode with eye candy, looking positively fabulous.

Each contestant performed one song along with their team manager, then rang out two solo acts. Wael Kfoury got to belt it with his man Adham Al-Nabulsi, while Hussein Al Jassmi got double the stage fun singing once with Ibrahim Abdul-Athem and another time with Mohammad Rifi.

Close friends and family received special invites to the final show. Mohammed Rifi could feel the support of his brother and friend in the audience, while Ibrahem Abdul-Athem’s mother and brother cheered him on. Adham Al-Nabulsi had a family fan club too with his mother, brother, and sister in the stands.

While they may not have had a chance to sip the celebratory champagne with a winning contest, Elissa and Carole Samaha still had their moment to shine when the contestants sang a compilation of the ladies’ songs.

As if Thursday night’s show wasn’t suspenseful enough, a last minute announcement was made at the end that no one would be eliminated that evening. Public voting was to remain open until the beginning of Friday’s show when the contestant with the least amount of votes would exit the stage, leaving the remaining two to battle it out.

It was an X Factor reunion on Friday night’s episode. All the less fortunate contestants returned for another sweet moment on the screen. The unlucky troupe of title wannabes performed group songs that were off the chain and made the crowd go wild.

Many fans were shocked when Adham Al-Nabulsi was the first dude to say goodnight to the competition, giving rise to social media conspiracy that Hussein Al Jassmi bought his way to the top, providing Mohammed the victory.

Everyone loves a good controversy, and Mohammed Rifi’s X Factor winning title was no exception. The Moroccan contestant had ruffled more than one feather before finishing first, so fans of the other two competitors went cray-cray on social media when the big announcement was made.
