ALBAWABA - Amidst Spanish control of the top ten positions, a list of the best 10 cities for expatriates in terms of living and working has been released.

The ranking, issued by the intonations foundation, is based on the analysis of five fundamental factors: quality of life, such as healthcare and entertainment options, ease of settling in, including the ability to make friends, foreign workers, which includes criteria like the local job market and work-life balance, the cost of living, and a comprehensive indicator of expatriate essentials, such as finding accommodation and completing administrative tasks.

The Spanish city of Malaga claimed the top spot after surveying 12,000 people living in 172 countries or territories. Malaga stands out due to its residents, with 89% of expatriates confirming that the local population was friendly towards foreigners, compared to the average of 65%. The coastal city is known for its moderate climate, entertainment options, reasonable housing prices, and manageable living costs. While newcomers noted that job opportunities are not fantastic, they affirm that Malaga supports a balance between life and work.

In the global expat landscape, Alicante stands out by claiming the lead in the ease of settling-in index, securing the top spot in the culture subcategory. Expats in Alicante express a sense of belonging, reporting high levels of happiness with their social lives. The city's allure extends beyond social circles, as the cost of living does not appear to curtail their lifestyle. Alicante proudly ranks 3rd in the personal finance index. A significant majority of expats (78 percent) express satisfaction with the overall cost of living, a notable contrast to the global average of only 44 percent. Moreover, Alicante takes the global lead in affordable housing, further enhancing its appeal for expatriates.

Valencia, securing a commendable third place in global expat rankings, shines for its outstanding leisure options and claims the top spot for recreational sports opportunities. The city excels in both the affordability and accessibility of healthcare, earning it a spot among the best worldwide. Navigating the city is a breeze, with convenient options for walking, cycling, and affordable public transportation. However, when it comes to working abroad, Valencia lags behind. Its career prospects for expats (47th place) rank the lowest among Spanish cities in the list. While expats may find employment opportunities, concerns arise due to a lack of job security, also landing Valencia in the 47th position in this aspect. Nevertheless, the welcoming atmosphere in Valencia stands out, with a majority of expats expressing satisfaction with the friendliness of local residents.
