At least one woman was killed and 400 people were wounded during violent protests across France as citizens demonstated against fuel tax hikes. On Saturday, some 287,000 protesters blocked roads and halted traffic, according to the French interior ministry.

In Paris police have used tear gas to repel protesters trying to reach the Elysée Palace and chanting slogans urging President Emmanuel Macron to resign.
