The US President Joe Biden has formally stated on April 24, 2021 that he recognizes the 1915 killings of Armenians Ottoman forces as a genocide.
Biden is in fact the first US president to use the term 'genocide' in a statement on the 106th anniversary, a day after informing the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the decision.
Armenians across the world have celebrated Biden's statement as they took to the streets to honor martyrs and commemorate the incident by holding the national flag and raising banners to celebrate this historic announcement.
The Armenian genocide took place in 1915 in which over 1 million people were killed on the hands of Ottoman empire forces.
In response, Turkey has summoned the American envoy saying that the US has caused a 'deep wound' in relations between the two NATO allies.
