6 Touristic Cities Before and During COVID-19

With over two billion people under lockdown around the world,  COVID-19 has impacted lives, people and countries all around the world dropping oil prices, economic growth, stock markets, travel and commerce; changing business and education scenes and  bringing to the front a crisis that is expected to continue long after this pandemic is over.

Here are six major cities in the world before and during the lockdown.

New York City , USA: New York City is considered one of the most populated cities in the U.S. It’s a hub not only for tourism but also for businesses, commerce, trade, media, arts, fashion, technology, science and entertainment. It's among the world’s major commercial, financial and cultural centers. This city is currently under lockdown because of the pandemic which made its streets empty and made its businesses come to a halt .

Dubai became an important business hub in the Middle East and one of the most major touristic cities in the world, providing all kinds of luxury and entertainment.This city is going through exceptional circumstances because of the spread of coronavirus. The city that doesn’t sleep is now in a coma because of the pandemic.

Paris , France: Paris is the capital of France and its most populous city. Because of its rich history and major touristic monuments, such as Eiffel Tower, champs Élysée street, Disneyland Europe and many others, it became one of the main touristic cities in the world. The crowded busy streets of Paris are now empty as the novel coronavirus is spreading out.

Mecca , Saudi Arabia: Mecca is the home to Holy Kaaba and Al-Masjid Al-Haram and is usually packed with pilgrims and worshippers coming from all over the world. The city has been unprecedentedly empty amidst the spread of Coronavirus.

Milano , Italy: Milano is the second biggest city in Italy after its capital, Rome. It’s considered an important touristic destination as it’s a home to important touristic attractions and historical buildings. Milano’s plazas are empty today from visitors and tourists just like many other touristic cities around the world because of the spread of COVID-19.

Petra, Jordan: Petra, the Rose city, is a symbol for Jordan and one of the main touristic cities in the country and in the world. The city celebrated one million visitors for the first time in the history of the Jordanian tourism in November 2019. Now with the spread of COVID-19, Petra is visited only by disinfectors.
