Rotana’s three hotels in Lebanon join forces with the Big Blue Campaign

In vision of protecting the Lebanese shore’s sand and water and with strong faith in the necessity of preserving its natural ecosystem, employees, managers and general managers of the three Rotana, the leading hotel management company in the Middle East and Africa, hotels in Lebanon joined forces in collaboration with the Civil Defense to help clean the Jiye shoreline as part of the ‘Big Blue’ campaign organized by ‘Cedars for Care’. 

The three teams from ‘Hazmieh Rotana’, ‘Gefinor Rotana’ and ‘Raouche Arjaan by Rotana’ spread out across the shore and divided the tasks by splitting the collected trash into different categories like bottle caps, plastics, glass, wooden items and others.

Commenting on the occasion, Lara Daniel, Area Director of Marketing & Communications, said, “We were surprised to find some really unusual items on the beach and in the water, such as needles, tweezers, glass and plastic bottles and clothes hangers. Worst thing is that this kind of trash is what kills our marine life.”

She added, “This step we took to raise our voice and increase the awareness on the importance of preserving our sea’s natural treasures will not be our last. We are very proud to see that the Rotana team, from employee to manager, understands the true meaning of corporate social responsibility and is more than happy to participate in such initiatives.”

It is also worth mentioning that this initiative will not be their last as the teams from the Rotana hotels in Lebanon are planning on a number of activities throughout 2011 to keep Lebanon’s environment clean and preserve its precious marine life.
