Ramada Ajman hosts meeting of World Blind Cricket Council

Ramada Hotel & Suites Ajman, a premier destination for business and leisure travellers, hosted the two-day meeting of the officers and members of the World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) to discuss the short- and long-term plans of the organisation including plans for the next Cricket World Cup for the blind.

Eight of the ten member nations including Australia, England, Nepal, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the West Indies gathered at a press conference today to discuss the plans of the organisation including ways to re-affirm and re-establish the role of the WBCC in international blind cricket.

Mr. David Townly, President of WBCC was the guest speaker of the meeting. He was joined by Syed Sultan Shah, First President of WBCC; Ian Martin, Disability Cricket Manager of England & Wales Cricket Board and other WBCC representatives.

One of the highlights of the meeting is a report on Sight Classifications and Sight Testing Procedures by Hassan Minto, representing Sight Savers International. Ian Martin (ECB) and Jon Long of the International Cricket Council (ICC) reported on the progress of building working relationships between the blind cricket and other forms of disability cricket, as well as the relationship between the WBCC and ICC. 

Points approved during the meeting are as follows:

- The inaugural Blind Cricket T20 World Cup will take place in India on December 2012

    - WBCC is inviting the bidding to host the One Day World Cup 2014

      - Next 5 years strategic plan has been considered

        - The strategy for the development of Blind Cricket was discussed
