Prius scores five stars on Euro safety rankings

Toyota Prius is the first hybrid car to be tested by the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) for safety achieving five stars on EURO NCAP’s safety rankings. Prius proved to be not only an economic, fuel efficient and eco-friendly but a completely safe car as well. Remarkably, Prius indicated a good driver’s knee impact area and scored maximum points in the side barrier test.
In addition to well-performing child occupant restraints offering protection up to 82%, Prius has a very strong and stable passenger compartment offering protection to occupants of different sizes and positions by keeping the head and chest away from steering wheel. Protection for pedestrians proved to be good in most areas. Prius also scored good safety assist points reaching 86% for its electronic stability control system.
Euro NCAP organizes crash-tests and provides motoring consumers with a realistic and independent assessment of the safety performance of some of the most popular cars sold in Europe. Euro NCAP has rapidly become a catalyst for encouraging significant safety improvements to new car design.
