Princess Ghida Talal announces the resignation of KHCC’s Director General and presents the center’s latest updates

HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF), met with the King Hussein Cancer Center’s (KHCC) medical and administrative personnel and announced that Dr. Mahmoud Sarhan, KHCC’s Director General, resigned from his post after serving KHCC for nine years. During that time, KHCC achieved remarkable advancements and was commended by various medical circles, as well as earned international accreditations, which singled out KHCC among other hospitals in the region. Princess Ghida also presented the latest projects of the Center, particularly the construction of the new building which will double the center’s capacity.
Princess Ghida said that Dr. Sarhan’s resignation has been submitted for personal reasons, and that the board of trustees, that holds much appreciation and respect for Dr. Sarhan, requested he remains in his position until a new director is appointed. Accordingly, Dr. Sarhan will remain in his position during this transition phase that may last from months, up to a year. Her Highness also said that Dr. Sarhan will always remain a member of the KHCF and KHCC family, and that he will continue to offer his services as a private consultant to the board of trustees for all medical affairs of KHCC even after the new director is appointed.
Moreover, Princess Ghida praised the wise management, great manners, and high sense of commitment, dedication and sincerity that Dr. Sarhan has demonstrated throughout the years, mentioning that one of his most remarkable achievements was assisting in raising the center’s medical and administrative structure to a very high level of which we are all proud of. Her Highness wished him best of luck and success in his future plans.
From his part, Dr. Mahmoud Sarhan thanked Princess Ghida for her kind words, and said that the he considers the years he spent as the director of KHCC as the richest years of his career, as he managed, with the support he received from both HRH Princess Ghida and the board of trustees, to help provide patients from Jordan and the region with the best services within the highest levels of professionalism, making KHCC an internationally accredited disease-specific center. Dr. Sarhan added that his resignation is due to personal reasons and promised to remain in his position until a new director is appointed to lead the center in the next stage.
It is worth mentioning that KHCC is considered a pride to the Arab world and Jordan’s medical jewel that offers treatment to cancer patients according to the latest international protocols, and includes the latest medical equipment used worldwide for treating cancer patients.
