Sheikh Al Azhar Dr. Al-Ahmed Al-Tayeb on Wednesday urged the Arab states and the world to lift the "oppressive" siege on he Gaza Strip, stressing that the "blockade violates all international conventions and other heavenly religions. It violates the fundamental principles of human rights and represents the ongoing aggression and injustice."
Sheikh of Al Azhar also stated that the Palestinian reconciliation is a legitimate duty and a sacred duty. disrupting or delaying it is a "sin". He called on the Palestinian people, Arab and Muslim leaders and peoples to support every sincere effort for Palestinian reconciliation and remove immediately all obstacles that might impede or delay it.
In his statement on Wednesday, the religious leader urged the "Palestinian brothers regardless of their affiliations to rise above their differences and feel the enormity of the responsibility and the accuracy of the current dangerous situation for the Palestinian cause, and realize that you can not face the Israeli aggression and arrogance, while you are in a state of dissension and controversy."
He noted that the current divisions among the Palestinians have damaged their cause and thus removing it needs the Palestinians to make every effort to complete the reconciliation.
