A spokesman for the Israeli police stated that clashes took place on late Sunday between the police and about two hundred Palestinian demonstrators in Silwan neighborhood in occupied East Jerusalem.  The Jerusalem Municipality intends to demolish 22 Palestinian houses in Silwan in order to build a Jewish archaeological park.

Spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the protesters threw stones and petrol bombs on a house inhabited by Jews. He added that guards who are employed by a private company fired shots in the air in an attempt to repel the protesters before calling police reinforcements. Six policemen were slightly injured in the confrontations. The Spokesman did not say whether there were casualties among the protesters.
