Orange Jordan nears the completion of the renovation operations at Rajm Al Shami School
As part of the Orange Villages project, a CSR initiative launched in 2010 by Orange Jordan to deliver much needed sustainable development to various rural poverty pockets around the Kingdom, the company continues the renovation and maintenance operations at Rajm Al Shami primary School, which it officially sponsors under the Madrasati initiative. Once completed, the activities will rejuvenate the infrastructure of the school – located in the village of Rajm Al Shami in the Central Badia province of Mowaqqar – and will assist in the education of more than 500 students of both genders.
The renovation activities include restoration works for both interior and exterior of the school’s building, the painting of classroom walls and hallways, the rehabilitation of the school’s facilities, the erection of a wall around the school, and the maintenance of the school’s playgrounds. The company will also establish a computer lab equipped with internet connectivity, in addition to a school library that will be established in partnership with the Family International Community Services.
Orange Jordan’s CEO Nayla Khawam commended the speed at which the projects at Rajm Al Shami are being executed, underscoring the importance of securing a healthy and sustainable educational environment, which will encourage the children to pursue knowledge and realize their full potential. Once the renovation operations complete, Orange Jordan will have adopted two schools at Rajm Al Shami, thereby addressing the village’s longstanding ‘school problem.’
The village will also receive a number of other renovations sponsored by Orange, including the establishment of a football field with artificial lawn and the provision of essential medical equipment in the village’s Health Center.
Orange Jordan’s strategy, which extends over the next two years, boasts an operational budget of JD 3.5 million. In addition to the Orange Villages project, the strategy includes the Orange Internet Fund, conceived to propel internet penetration in governorates beyond the capital.
