ALBAWABA - An armed group broke into a nightclub in the Syrian capital Damascus and killed one woman, local media reported on Monday.
A motorcycle stopped outside the Al-Karawan nightclub in Syria, then armed men opened fire inside the place, leading to the death of one female dancer named "Ghazal", according to social media users. The men fled the scene without revealing the party they belonged to.
Al-Karawan Nightclub, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), is a popular venue in Damascus, with a long history of hosting entertainment shows and events.
In a separate attack on another nightclub on Saturday night, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of several armed individuals involved in an attack on civilians in a Damascus neighborhood. This arrest came after video footage emerged documenting the incident inside a restaurant and a nightclub called Layali al-Sharq.
Syrian News Agency quoted the Interior Ministry's media office as saying, "A video clip captured by a surveillance camera has been circulated on social media showing a number of military personnel assaulting a group of individuals in a neighborhood of the capital."
