ALBAWABA - Business School assistant professor Shai Davidai was temporarily banned from the Columbia University campus, University spokesperson Millie Wert said on Tuesday.

Various reactions emerged online with some saying the real reason behind the suspension was because of the assistant professor harassment issue, meanwhile, others claimed that Davidai was temporarily suspended for his stance on the Gaza-Israel war.

Why was Shai Davidai suspended from Colombia University's campus?

In a statement to Spectator, Wert confirmed that Shai Davidai was banned over a harassment issue. He wrote: "Columbia, however, does not tolerate threats of intimidation, harassment, or other threatening behavior by its employees."

However, the professor rejected the statement saying the real reason he was banned was because he spoke up against Hamas' October 7 attack against Israel which was labeled the hardest in decades.

Shai Davidai spoke up against the university's decision via an Instagram video. He said: "The University has decided to not allow me to be on campus anymore. My job. Why? Because of Oct. 7."

He maintained: "Because I was not afraid to stand up to the hateful mob. And because I was not afraid to expose Mr. fucking Cas Holloway."
