ALBAWABA - American journalist Terry Anderson, who was taken hostage in Lebanon for about six years, died aged 76 on Sunday at his home in Greenwood Lake, New York, The Guardian reported citing the journalist's daughter.

Sulome Anderson didn't mention the reason behind her father's death, however, she said: "Though my father’s life was marked by extreme suffering during his time as a hostage in captivity, he found a quiet, comfortable peace in recent years"

She maintained: "I know he would choose to be remembered not by his very worst experience, but through his humanitarian work with the Vietnam Children’s Fund, the Committee to Protect Journalists, homeless veterans and many other incredible causes."

Who is American journalist Terry Anderson?

Terry Anderson was the former chief Middle East correspondent for the Associated Press. He was also the longest-held hostage of all foreigners abducted in Beirut as he remained from 1985 to 1991.

Anderson was finally freed after 6 years in hostage in December 1991 after he was kidnapped by the pro-Iran Islamic Jihad group.

The group added that the kidnapping of the American journalist was part of "continuing operations against Americans."

It is worth mentioning that his daughter, Sulome Anderson was born about 90 days after he dad was taken hostage in Lebanon.
