ALBAWABA - German-Turkish football star Mesut Özil posted a video on his Twitter account announcing support for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the Turkish election runoff.
Özil posted a video of a song which was performed by university students. The song titled: "Come on, President, make us smile again."
The Twitter post gained massive engagement in a short time as it gained 764,600 views and tens of thousands of likes and retweets as numbers are still increasing.
Polling stations opened at 8 a.m. local time (0500GMT) across Turkey as people gear up to choose a new president.
The first round of Turkish election ended with no winner as none of the candidates succeed in gaining over 50 percent of the votes.
Erdogan won 49.5 percent of the votes, meanwhile, Kilicdaroglu 44.9 percent of the votes.
