ALBAWABA - The Israeli army has carried out an attack targeting a Hezbollah member in the southern suburb of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, killing four people.

An Israeli airstrike struck the southern suburb of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, early Tuesday morning killing four and injuring another four, Al Jadeed reported.

The Israeli army announced that it had carried out an airstrike without prior warning targeting a Hezbollah member in the southern suburb of Beirut in a strike that was directed by the General Security Service (Shabak).

Who was targeted in Beirut's southern suburb?

The Israeli attack on Beirut's southern suburbs targeted an official overseeing Palestinian affairs in Hezbollah, AFP reported citing a source close to the Iranian-backed group.

The Israeli bombing "targeted Hassan Bdair, Hezbollah's deputy head for the Palestinian file". The source also noted the Hezbollah member was "at home with his family" during the airstrike by the Israeli army, AFP added.

It is worth noting that the airstrike comes amid escalating Israeli violations following the ceasefire deal agreed upon with Hezbollah on Nov. 27. Meanwhile, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the strike saying it was a "clear breach" of the ceasefire.
