ALBAWABA - Social media users were shocked and shared photos showing San Francisco empty of its homeless people amid Chinese President Xi Jinping's expected visit to the United States.
Many activists and social media users have shared photos showing a street which are familiar with hosting many homeless people on normal days, however, it is empty today.
"Where did all the homeless go?" a netizen posted on the X platform (formerly known as Twitter) questioning the municipality about the place where the homeless were moved amid the intended visit of Xi Jinping.
Another added: "San Francisco’s homeless population was entirely cleared out for Xi Jinping."
Meanwhile, another mockingly said: "Hey Xi Jinping, can you visit Chicago next."
Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to visit the US and meet American President Joe Biden in San Francisco.
Spokesperson of the White House Karine Jean-Pierre stated the meeting would take place on Nov. 15 in California. According to sources, the meeting is among Xi's visit to the US on Nov. 14-17 to attend the 30th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.
She added: "The leaders will discuss issues in the U.S.-PRC (People's Republic of China) bilateral relationship, the continued importance of maintaining open lines of communication, and a range of regional and global issues."
