A photo went viral online showing a man being dragged by Palestinian fighters as he was wearing a black t-shirt and shorts. Many social media users posted the photo claiming that the man in the hands of Hamas fighters is Israeli major general Nimrod Aloni.
Since the release of the photo showing a man who was said to be Aloni, his fate has been unknown, especially after Hamas' earlier announcement of taking all Israeli hostages to the Gaza Strip.
Was Israeli major general Nimrod Aloni caught by Hamas?
Eekad, an investigative platform, released a video on Instagram comparing Israeli major general Nimrod Aloni to the person whose photo went viral on social media on the first day of the Hamas Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel.
In the investigation, Eekad confirmed that the person in the photo was not Israel's major general Nimrod Aloni, but he was someone else.
Where's Nimrod Aloni?
According to the investigation, Eekad said after searching Israeli Army websites, it discovered that the major general attended a meeting with Israeli officials on Oct. 8, a day after the alleged photo went viral claiming he was caught by Hamas.
Nimrod Aloni's current place is currently unknown, but according to Eekad, he is not in the hands of Hamas members.
Who's the man in the viral photo?
Eekad said that it investigated details of the man captured by Hamas fighters and compared it to Aloni's photos. It revealed a professor carrying the same name as the Israeli major general, Nimrod Aloni.
After loads of investigation, Eekad said that the professor's facial expressions and hair color matched the person in the viral photo.
The glasses in the photo also matched with older videos of the professor.
