ALBAWABA - Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (best known as RFK Jr.) recently went viral on social media after a video showed him adding blue-colored droplets into his water on an airplane, sparking debate about the substance's ingredients.

The controversial American politician and President Donald Trump's nominee to serve as Secretary of Health and Human Service has strong views on the country's healthcare system including the vaccination it provides and for reportedly allowing dangerous ingredients found in many consumable products sold in several supermarkets across the US.

What is the blue substance RFK Jr. added to his water?

While it remains unclear what RFK Jr. added to his water, social media users on Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter) suspect that the blue substance is none other than, Methylene Blue, a medication used to treat a condition called methemoglobinemia which also allegedly provides some health benefits to whoever consumes it.

An X user wrote, "What is RFK Jr. putting in his drink…??" To which someone replied, "It is methylene blue. Its effect is to increase oxygen transport to the brain and other organs, thus increasing energy and mental clarity" in response."

According to the Cleveland Clinic, methemoglobinemia is a rare disorder that affects the body's red blood cells and how they deliver oxygen across the body.

On the contrary, studies show that taking Methylene Blue in high doses could pose some risks to the individual including toxic side effects. It's recommended to consult a doctor who is familiar with its pros and cons.
