ALBAWABA - A video went viral on social media showing Syrian opposition rebels dragging a person and executing him in the middle of the famous Assi Square in Hama with many sharing the clip claiming the person was Talal Daqqaq.
Talal Daqqaq, who is a pro-Assad soldier and one of the most feared figures in Syria, was a leader in the National Defence Forces, which is a Syrian pro-government paramilitary volunteer militia, that was formed in November 2012.
National Defence Forces were controlled and organized by the Syrian government during the Syrian Civil War.
Was Talal Daqqaq, pro-Assad militia member, executed in Hama?
According to some Syrian activists, Daqqaq, whose name was a source of fear for many people in Hama, traded prisoners' organs and fed their body parts to his pet lion. Now, a clip spread online claiming he was executed at the hands of the Syrian rebel forces days after the collapse of Bashar Assad's regime.
But, Daqqaq appeared in a video in which he denied everything that was circulated about him that he was murdered at the hands of rebels in front of people in Hama.
In the footage, he showed up and asked someone about the date and time, and Daqqaq confirmed that the day was Tuesday, December 10 refuting all social media claims which erupted following the Assad regime collapse.
Many Syrian activists called for harsh punishment of all Syrian regime members who were involved in oppressing people and holding them accountable unjustly without a fair trial or placing them in prison for only opposing the Assad regime.
Syrian opposition forces led by Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham announced an operation against the Assad regime on November 27. Rebels began to take control of major cities starting by Aleppo to Homs, Hama and finally ousting Assad by entering the capital Damascus on December 8.
