ALBAWABA - On Tuesday evening, the adviser of the Syrian presidency Luna Shabal was subjected to a horrific car accident that led her to the emergency room and left her in a critical condition.
Luna Shabal is a well-known figure who is close to Syrian President Bashar Assad and her accident has ignited an online debate about whether it was planned or not highlighting that the person who caused the accident was arrested.
Shabal was involved on Tuesday in a traffic accident on Yaa’four Road in Damascus, first, she was taken to a clinic near the crash place but later on, she was transferred to intensive care in Al-Shami Hospital in Damascus.
The Syrian Observatory For Human Rights reported citing reliable sources that a car hit the car of Assad's advisor and she went off the road. Syrian forces arrested the driver of the car and took him to a security centre for probe.
Was Assad's adviser Luna Shabal's accident planned? who's behind it?
Since the accident involving Luna Shabal, many theories popped up on social media claiming that the crash was planned by someone or an opposite party.
A person on X (formerly Twitter) claimed that Asma Assad, who is being treated for Leukemia, requested the assassination of Luna Shabal. He wrote: "Major Hafez Bashar Assad carries out the instructions of his ill mother, Asma, and orders the killing of Luna Shebl through a (carefully planned traffic accident)."
The person also allegedly claimed that the driver of the 'armored vehicle' that hit Luna's car was the commander Basil Assef Shawkat.
Another theory claims that Luna Shabal was planning to escape the country along with her husband to Russia, however, her plan failed as she was targeted in a car crash allegedly carried out by Iranians.
