Hundreds of Honk Kong demonstrators have smashed the doors of the region’s Legislative Council Building as violent clashes broke out in Hong Kong against controversial government plans to allow extraditions to China.

The moment protestors broke into the building was caught on video and has circulated the internet widely.

Peaceful protests have rapidly turned into violent clashes as protesters tried to storm the city’s parliament, Wednesday, triggering the police to use violence to stop them. Police have used rubber bullets and tear gas against protesters who were dressed in black.

Protesters who are mostly young people have gone to the streets to protest the government bill that would allow people to be sent from the autonomous region of Hong Kong to mainland China for trial, which puts them in danger of facing human rights violations.

The protests were described as Hong Kong’s biggest political demonstrations since it was handed from Britain to China in 1997 under a "one country, two systems" deal guaranteeing it special autonomy.
