ALBAWABA - A video circulating social media platforms shocked the world after showing an Iraqi officer slapping one of his higher-ranked colleagues multiple times which caused quite a stir among Iraqis and the Middle East.
The video in question shows the man slapping the higher-ranking officer constantly and in a violent manner, which resulted in the Iraqi Ministry of Defense opening a case to investigate the matter. The individuals in the video have not been named yet.
According to an Iraqi News Agency, Iraqi Defense Minister, Thabet Muhammad Al-Abbasi called for the arrest of the two officers for further investigation. The Ministry of Defense came up with a statement later and said:
“Some social networking sites circulated a video clip of two officers in which they behaved in a manner not befitting their military rank, and outside the controls and military contexts in force in a large institution with a long history represented by 103 years of heroism and sacrifices.”

According to Erem News, The ministry added that it "will punish any member or officer who carries out any action that would harm the reputation of the Ministry and its ancient history, and there will be no one exempt from accountability if he carries out any action that harms the history of the heroic Iraqi army."

The ministry added that the action both of these officers took was rather "childish" and didn't go well with the "Image of the Iraqi Military," so an investigation board was opened to further understand the matter as the Military Service and Retirement Law reported.
